'Smoking' Joe Emmons was always into martial arts, mainly judo, karate and boxing from a young age, but actually preferred to kick a football as opposed to peoples heads for nearly 20 years while playing for a local team.
It was while living in Thailand nearly 10 years ago that saw him visit a Muay Thai gym to continue his passion for traditional western boxing.
Only months later he made his boxing debut but, it was while preparing for this fight that Joe became interested in the art of Muay Thai.
6 months of intense training in the motherland of the sport and Joe made his professional Muay Thai debut, winning with a spectacular TKO in the second round.
Three more years living and training in Thailand saw an impressive 7 win streak, earning him a title shot, which Joe easily won within 30 seconds of the very first round.
The Hua Hin championship is something Joe would later return to Thailand to win again, after 2 and a half years out with torn cartilage.
Still an active fighter, Joe has a 15 fight career in boxing, kickboxing and Muay Thai with only three losses to his name.

Simon Dempsey. Owner, Coach Chaos MMA, Little Spartans and WAMMA.
Simon's interest in martial arts began at a very early age, like most; exposure to the Bruce Lee phenomenon was probably the cause.
After taking Judo classes to begin with and a brief stint in Shotakan and Wado-ryu karate he found his true passion in kickboxing and later Muay Thai.
Simon spent time training at the famous "Dragons" gym in Carlisle under the watchful eye of 'Mad' Mike Haslam, who in turn was a direct student of Grand Master Sken, the man responsible for introducing mainstream Muay Thai to the UK.
After moving back down to Essex he continued to train under George Nolan.
It was at this time he caught the very first UFC event, and so began his quest for mixed martial arts.
This led him to one of the UK's most respectable martial artists, Paul Cudmore who Simon has now trained under for over 10 years.
Having trained and competed in a variety of disciplines, Simon still sees himself as a student of the martial arts and is an active member of most classes at the academy.
His coaching skills have seen him take the Little Spartans kids MMA class from a group of kids with no experience to a fight team competing in a variety of disciplines and winning plenty of silver wear in both Thai boxing and Grappling events.
The Spartans class is probably the largest kids MMA club in Essex, such is its popularity.
Simon also helps coach the Chaos MMA fight team with training structures and fight preparation and the team boast an impressive 88% success rate for both new and experienced fighters, with some gaining several titles.
Not naïve enough to believe he knows it all, Simon has sourced the very best coaches around to ensure the level of instruction and professionalism available at the academy are of the very highest caliber and second to none.
